"Select the right primer before applying anything to the skin"

"If the skin is too warm cool it down and vice versa"

Use an NC foundation if the model has a golden undertone. If the model is lighter/ more golden around the cheeks, ensure you use a lighter foundation in that area.. Darker around the edges of the face. Work with the tone, the majority shade. Press product with one side of the brush and blend with the other side. For the lips: use a lip pencil that suits the natural tone of the lip, a nude lip always looks beautiful on black skin. Dont be afraid of applying colour. Use a small blending brush to mix the highlighter and concealer on the face. Emphasise the natural highlights in the skin. For contour- again check the skin and undertones...massage colour into the contoured areas, work around and down against the jaw and temples.

Eyes:

When blending out into the eye use the opposite shade of the models skin... Ie if the model has a golden undertone then use reds/ blacks to blend out. Start to create the blend before layering on the main pigment/ shadow. Ask your model to look forward if your struggling to map out the eyes. Use a pencil brush for the corners- mapping out. To brighten the inner corner of the eye use a lighter shade of the colour used to blend. Press the product into the eye to create a layering effect. Wet a cotton bud with a baby wipe to clearly define the eyes, from the outer base -up toward the outer edge of the brow.

For brow:

Apply brow gel, while it sets use a flat brush to apply highlight and concealer underneath the brow. Deep dark brunette brow gel for the eyebrows is usually well suited. Fill in a triangular shape with the brow as you would with eyeliner. For mascara a fan brush is good to use because its not too invasive on the models eye.

I work for an event in Newcastle called Lovedough at TUP TUP palace (Nightclub) it is an RnB night and two of the dancers have afro caribbean skin tones. Above: Lauren gill (Left) and Jazzmin Sherell Warren.

The technique for their make up applications is usually either a bold eye or a bold lip. I never combine the two. They both have flawless complexions and exotic features to work with and the application doesnt require a lot of time.
